Frequently Asked Questions
The availability to pay online is dependent on the timely filing of the citations with the courts by law enforcement. Once the citations are filed, the court staff will need additional time to enter the citation information into the court system. In some cases, it may be 13 or more days before the case is available for online payment.
Per Hawaii Civil Traffic Rule 7 'FILING THE NOTICE OF INFRACTION' The officer or some other person authorized by the issuing entity shall file the original of the notice of infraction with, or transmit an electronic copy of the notice of infraction to, the Traffic Violations Bureau or District Court in the circuit where the alleged infraction occurred, no later than ten (10) calendar days after the date the notice is issued.
If you would like to make the payment before the citation has been entered into the system, you may pay by mail, using the pre-addressed envelope that accompanied the citation or use a regular envelope addressed to the District Court located in the area where you received the citation. The addresses are listed on the reverse side of the citation or follow this link for court information (http://www.courts.state.hi.us/self-help/traffic/district_court_contact_info.html). You may also pay in person at any District Court.
If you have any other questions, please contact the courts at(808) 538-5500 between 7:45am to 4:30pm, Mondays through Fridays, except state holidays.Traffic Violations Bureau
